The Rebirth of ORA

Hi everyone, Elquinjena here.

I know ORA has been dormant for quite a while but I am hoping that with help from Richard (A.K.A Poledraa) and his guild of family and friends we will be able to breathe life back into it.

What we would like to focus on first is a simple head count to see who is still out there. I will be cleaning up the ORA roster by placing those who have not logged into it for a while into the Archive, and when they do log back in it will place them as active.

Then we would like to focus on having ORA channel as a spot to find others for groups. We would also like to get X2 groups together for that type of content.

Not sure what we will do here to help plan out groups, but will figure something out. I know many people have moved on for raiding and that is fine, but my hope is that those who do want to get together for groups will be a part of this.

We have some plans for the guild portal site, one of them is adding access to Discord.

Discord is a new voice program which has so much more ability to it over Ventrilo. It is also a free program with phone app ability. It also has a much shorter delay in voice relaying than vent does.

We want to put some tools on the ORA page that will help you with gearing up for content. I still believe that ORA can be a place for people who belong to small family/friend guilds to gather and be committed to tackling common goals. Be that raids, x2 groups, 6 man groups, help with quests etc I still believe in ORA and the people in it.

Hope to see you all soon,

Elquinjena x

Open Raiding Alliance Raid Rules

by Neod, 1182 days ago

OPEN RAID ALLIANCE RAID RULES

ALL ORA RAIDERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE THE TEARS OF VESHAN XPAC INSTALLED BY DECEMBER 1, 2013.

All active raiders in ORA are expected to keep the following raid zone instance timers cleared-

Accursed Sanctum
Temple of Veeshan: Guardian's Edifice
The Fabled Laboratory of Lord Vyemm
The Fabled Mutagenic Outcast
The Fabled Three Princes
Avatar of Pestilence
Avatar of Death
Avatar of Conquest
Avatar of Rodcet Nife
Avatar of Mithaniel Marr
Avatar of Tunare
Dreadcutter

Please do not disappoint your fellow raiders by having a locked timer for your main character.

The Open Raiding Alliance minimum raid rules are are intended to allow survivability in the ToV zones. Certain minimum standards are apparent. Raid instances require a minimum crit chance of 565. All raiders should be fully equipped with a minimum of ToV arcane armor (that means as a rule no red or yellow adorned gear), with all gems and purple adornments in place. All spells should be MASTERED. All white adornments should be SUPERIORS. Some tolerance is to be expected. For example, if your crit chance is 545 that is one thing. If your crit chance is 450, that is something else.

Raiders are expected to sign up and bring their MAIN character to every raid. *IF* a raider is then asked to change to an alt for some reason, that raider will have a choice of which of the two classes they wish to roll for. Only very rarely will we be asking any raider to bring a class that is NOT their main, for class balance. Our desire is to bring our best "main" raiders to every raid to hopefully improve our chances of progression.

Please note- secondary and alternate characters are suspended at this time.

======================================================================

CURRENTLY WE ARE USING THE VENTRILO VOICE SYSTEM FOR OUR RAIDS.

The client Ventrilo program can be downloaded at http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php. Host information will be given once you are invited into the raid. YOU MUST AT LEAST BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO THE RAID LEADERS AND THIER INSTRUCTIONS.

> Currently ORA is strictly farming the Tears of Veeshan expansion for armor, jewelry and weapons. All scheduled ORA raids require raiders to have the Tears of Veeshan xpac. All raiders must be to be adventure level 95. Critical chance of 500 (closer to 650 the better)or more. These values are derived from the zone requirements of the raid zones in these expansions.

DO NOT DESPAIR!! ORA considers these values as guidelines, not hard and fast rules. ORA often takes individuals with crit chance values less than this.

ALL PROSPECTIVE RAIDERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE ORA TEXT CHANNEL (accessed by typing /join ora (enter) in text chat box), FULLY HEALED (WITH ALL ARROWS, POTIONS, ETC.), AND READY TO ENTER THE VENTRILO VOICE SYSTEM 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF EACH RAID. ORA will not hold up 23 other raiders waiting for you to log on. Even though you may have signed up earlier than others you MAY be skipped over for raid selection if you are not on time. If you know you are going to be a FEW minutes late you must contact Neod personally to advise them.

ALL RAIDERS who sign up for ORA raids MUST have the EQ2players update button enabled on any character raiding with ORA.

In the default UI this is found on your C Character screen, at the bottom of the list of options. There is no easier way
for ORA to insure that any character is ready to raid any given raid zone. Please attend to this.

> ORA DOES NOT USE A DECLARED ALTERNATE SYSTEM FOR LOOTING PURPOSES. EACH PERSON IS EXPECTED TO ROLL FOR THEIR DESIGNATED MAIN CHARACTERS.

Please note- secondary and alternate characters are suspended at this time.

*** PLEASE NOTE ***

The only exception to this rule is if at any time during the raid someone outside the ORA alliance is asked to join our raid, that individual will be allowed to declare whatever class they wish to roll for. These people are making accommodations to ensure the success of our raids and we appreciate it.

GENERAL LOOT RULES-

Please note- secondary and alternate characters are suspended at this time.

> Currently ORA has four separate types of loot rolls-

MAIN- This is the first character that you choose to attend ORA raids with. This would be the raider name you choose to assign to ORA when you applied to ORA.

Please note- secondary and alternate characters are suspended at this time.

SECONDARY– This designation is for RAIDERS that have typically obtained all +187 gear on their MAIN character and are now rolling for a secondary “MAIN” character. Any deviation from the +187 rule will have to be approved by ORA.

ALTERNATE- This is a second character that you may wish to designate and dedicate to ORA for loot rolls. This character will have to meet ORA’s minimum raid requirements and will have to keep raid instance timers cleared.

The order of rolls for loot shall be (1) Mains then (2) Secondary then (3) Alts and finally, ENDLOOT rolls.

WHENEVER ORA ENTERS INTO NEW TERRITORY AND NEW INSTANCES, THIS INFORMATION WILL BE RELAYED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE INSTANCE. THEN ALL RAIDERS WITH SECONDARY CHARACTERS WILL REVERT BACK TO MAINS FOR LOOT PURPOSES, AND THEIR RAIDER SECONDARIES WILL BECOME THEIR ALTS FOR LOOT.

> ORA raids are done on a /random 1000 basis (/ran 1000), one item per raider per archetype, until everyone in that archetype has had an opportunity to win an item on dropped loot. Then the loot will reset for that archetype. If for some reason anyone within an archetype decides to pass on rolling for an item (e.g., has the item, prefers to take their chances on a different drop within the zone, etc.) they DO NOT forfeit their opportunity to roll on archetype items until the archetype recycles. Everyone within each archetype is expected to keep track of who has won loot and who has not won loot according to this rule. If you are questioned about won loot please do NOT take offense. People lose track of this information constantly.

If you have won an item using the /ran 1000 process, and no one else within your archetype wishes to roll on a second dropped loot item, you will be given the opportunity to roll for the second item with no penalty incurred.

> Loot/archetype progression does not reset if the raid force enters a second raid zone during official raid times.

>ITEMS NOT WON BY THE /RAN 1000 PROCESS FOR MAIN AND ALT CHARACTERS WILL BE RANDOMED OFF TO EVERYONE IN THE RAID AS END LOOT. ONCE A PERSON HAS WON AN ITEM USING THIS PROCESS THEY WILL BE UNABLE TO WIN A SECOND ITEM.

In addition to our normal raid rules, each raider attending ORA raids can accumulate “karma” points in the following ways-

(1) Signing up for raids on the ORA website and then showing up on time and being ready to go at raid start time awards 10 points.

(2) Raiders not signing up but showing up and joining the raid at any time during the scheduled 3hr raid awards 5 points.

(3) Each NAMED kill which drops a chest awards 10 points.

(4) Each NEW Named killed awards 20 points.

(5) Attempts on a Named that is unsuccessful and the fight is called awards 5 Points.

Once ANY raid is started, all karma points are locked, and any additional karma points will be added to totals at the end of the raid.

If a raider must leave before the end of the raid, accumulation of karma points for that raider is halted. Points that were earned up to that point go into the raider’s balance to be used in all future raids.

Maximum Karma points that any raider may hold in balance is 1000 points.

Karma points are assigned to the User Name you used to sign up to ORA, not each character you might bring to any given raid.

Each raider may check their total karma points by going to KARMA CHECKER on the ORA web site main menu.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS-

Ideally all raiders should create two macros-

1st macro-

/ran 1000

2nd macro-

/r I want to use my karma points (ENTER KARMA TOTAL)

/ran 1000

When a chest drops and loot is offered to the raid, each eligible raider has a choice. They can either roll a random 1000 number (/ran 1000) or they can use their accumulated karma points to influence their /ran 1000 roll. These karma points are added directly to their /ran 1000 roll. This is an all or nothing decision. Raiders cannot use partial amounts of karma points. Rolling with your karma provides a higher chance of winning the item; however, winning comes with a price of losing half your accumulated karma from previous "Karma" raids. Of course if a raider loses that roll their karma points are undisturbed.

Karma rolls are used for chest loot items such as armor, weapons, rune patterns or jewelry. Other items such as runes, masters, crafting materials, or anything unusual such as mounts do not use karma.

> Due to limited raid spots, some might have to sit out for class/gear reasons. This is not a reflection of being a bad player.

> If you remain available in the ORA text channel there is always the chance we will sub people in and out as needed.

> Be courteous, be patient, be understanding, and do not be sensitive!! Sometimes on a raid when asking someone to do something we do not have the time to say please or thank you for each request. It is not that we are not thankful, but the raids will be run as efficiently as possible.

> Disruptive/disrespectful raiders will be removed from the raid force. Specifically in this regard, while in the raid, please do not question, suggest, argue or otherwise distract from the progress of the raid. Many of us have seen different or alternate successful methods regarding name pulls and strategies. PLEASE DO NOT QUESTION THE DIRECTIONS OF THE RAID LEADERS OR TANKS. If we reach a stumbling block, we will ask for advice.

> We do NOT move people in and out of raids based on needs, class, and experience as the raid progresses through zones.

ACCEPTABLE AFKs

> Acceptable: Things happen- kids fall, doorbell rings, phones ring, etc., - any number of issues that will take our attention off the screen for a period of time.

-If you’re raiding with us, any AFK should be communicated to group. A lot of you know when a fast AFK is feasible or not and if you don't know ask in raid chat.

> Not Acceptable: Long AFK's in the middle of raids. It wastes the raid's time and we can fill that spot with someone who is not AFK and ready to raid.

> If you need an extended AFK while in a raid, explain to the raid leader that you have to leave. Let someone else have the opportunity to complete the raid in your stead.

> If any raider notices someone in raid/channel that seems inactive (not moved, not responded, has no one or mob on target for several minutes) then please send a /tell to the raid leader.

Behavior

> #1 Rule: DO NOT BE AN ASS!!

> Fellow raiders are not there for your personal abuse or to disrespect. Whether in tells, raid channels or voice chat, there is absolutely no reason to be disrespectful to anyone at any time.

> Disruptive/disrespectful raiders will be removed from the raid force.

> Getting upset over loot or being asked to sit out of a raid is a waste of energy, yours and ours. If you start

complaining about loot or sitting out, then you might find yourself out of the raid. Loot happens – every time we win. Complaining about it is counterproductive.

> If the raid leader asks questions or makes a suggestion do not be offended. Holding up a raid by arguing a point wastes time. Everyone wants to be successful, even the raid leaders, but if raid chat is being consumed by complaints either step up and lead the raid yourself or save it for after the raid.

>Raid Slot Selection Process:

The following criteria will be used to fill raid slots:

1. Players who sign up for any raid get first priority on a "first to sign up, first to go" basis

2. Needed classes get next highest priority

3. Those who are on line 30 minutes prior to raid start time get higher priority (invites are often sent the closer we get to the raid start time)

4. As we progress through harder content, gear, crit chance or other criteria may be a factor for certain classes and the selection process, and certain raid assignments within the raid

5. Those that are late are subject to what slots are available, if any

6. Crit chance values should be as close to the recommended values stated above at a minimum
